Image Converter
The Image Converter changes an image between PNG, JPEG and WebP entirely in your browser. Drop in a file, pick the output format (and quality for JPEG/WebP), and download the result. Nothing is uploaded — the conversion runs locally on your device.
Different platforms want different image formats — PNG for transparency, JPEG for photos, WebP for small web images. This converter re-encodes your image to the format you need right in the browser, so the file never leaves your device.
How to use the Image Converter
- Drop an image in, or click to choose one from your device.
- Pick the output format — PNG, JPEG or WebP — and a quality for the lossy ones.
- Click Convert, preview the result, and download it.
Common use cases
- Convert a PNG screenshot to a smaller JPEG or WebP for the web.
- Turn a JPEG into a PNG when you need a lossless copy.
- Produce a WebP version of an image to cut page weight.
Tips
- PNG is lossless (best for graphics and transparency); JPEG and WebP are lossy (best for photos).
- WebP usually gives the smallest file at the same visible quality — a good default for the web.
Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded anywhere? +
No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API — your image never leaves your device and nothing is sent to a server.
Which formats can I convert between? +
PNG, JPEG and WebP. Other formats can usually be read as input, but browsers can't reliably encode AVIF from a canvas, so the output is limited to those three.
Will converting to JPEG lose quality? +
JPEG and WebP are lossy, so some quality is traded for a smaller file — use the quality slider to balance them. PNG is lossless and keeps every pixel, including transparency.
