Transparent Background
The Transparent Background tool makes a chosen color transparent entirely in your browser. Click the background color, adjust tolerance and feather, and export a transparent PNG or WebP. It works by color-keying — matching pixels (everywhere, or just the connected region you click) are made transparent — so it is best for solid or flat backgrounds and needs no upload or AI.
Need a logo or product shot on a transparent background? Click the background color and this tool keys it out — everywhere in the image, or just the connected area you click — then lets you tune the tolerance and soften the edge before exporting a transparent PNG or WebP. It runs entirely in your browser, so the image never leaves your device. For photos with busy or gradient backgrounds, try the AI Background Remover instead.
How to use the Transparent Background
- Drop an image in, or click to choose one from your device.
- Click the background color you want to remove; adjust Tolerance and Feather until the edge looks clean. Switch 'Connected' on to clear only the region you click.
- Optionally keep the result and click another color, then export as a transparent PNG or WebP.
Common use cases
- Make a logo or icon transparent for slides, docs or a website.
- Knock out a flat studio background behind a product photo.
- Turn a solid-color backdrop into transparency for a sticker or overlay.
Tips
- Use 'Connected' mode to clear the background while keeping same-colored areas inside your subject (e.g. a white logo on a white background).
- A little Feather removes the hard jagged edge color-keying can leave; raise Tolerance if some background color remains.
Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded to make it transparent? +
No. The color-keying runs entirely in your browser with the Canvas API — your image never leaves your device and nothing is sent to a server.
Why is some background left behind? +
Color-keying removes pixels close to the color you clicked. Raise Tolerance to catch more shades, add Feather to soften edges, or click the leftover areas to key them too. For photos with varied backgrounds, use the AI Background Remover.
What format should I export? +
PNG keeps full transparency and is the safe default. WebP also supports transparency and makes smaller files; JPEG can't hold transparency, so it isn't offered here.
